»»  Introduction

Michael McTaggart was the first of his kind, the original Elvis entertainer.

Before Elvis impersonators became popular Michael was shaking the subway, rocking the stage, and rolling to popularity!   The many Elvis sightings along the subway system are attributed to him - hence the name Subway Elvis! At that time it was actually not allowed so he was arrested for singing in the Subway system. He broke fresh ground in this regard and fought for people to eventually be able to get designated spots to make money in the subways. With a strong voice and stage presence he is without question a born entertainer.   During his sensational career he has shared the stage with some of the greatest musicians of our time.

Although Subway Elvis is best known for his great voice as the Elvis impersonator, he is also a very talented golfer. He had won several tournaments at a young age. Subway Elvis was also featured in a popular golfing magazine. Equally talented in either profession he chose to focus primarily on singing due to his love of music.

An unfortunate turn of events took this professional performer off the stage and into a nightmare when he was wrongfully convicted for crimes he did not commit. His opportunity to play in the US Open Golf Tournament and his stage career were taken away instantly.   The wrongful conviction and eventual release was featured on the "CBC Witness" television series - 2002.
